I Want a Female Boss :)

Posted by thearrow on March 20, 2008

I don’t know what’s up with guys, but I’ve always had a much better (read efficient) working relationship with women. I’m not a man hater, for sure; I have quite a few men colleagues whom I really like and appreciate. Too bad I don’t work for them :). Somehow, I’ve never had great communication with men supervisors. It never really mattered until I got to the States, where, for the most part, things weren’t clear. Women always picked up on my need for extra clarification and always offered the explanations I needed.

I’ve had three interviews for other jobs so far and the one I had with women was by far the best. Lots of context, nuances, details, and, in general, a concern to make things clear. And also a concern about how I feel, which is where men score very low in my book so far. Unfortunately, all this matters more here because I don’t have the support system I had at home, so I’m forced to try to find at work some of the emotional nourishment I need. Of course, the wrong place to look for that, realistically speaking, but I’d beg to differ that it should be like this.

You can tell it’s a Thursday, my lowest-energy day. Thank God Lost is starting in 3 minutes and I get to relax in my comfy dish chair with the cat in my lap and a glass of wine :).

    leave lost, try dexter šŸ˜€

(the female boss you depict here seems so far from the *ahem* female boss you can find in bucharest – or brasov; i’m talking about my own close encounters of the third kind.)

Oh, I know. I was talking about Americans, not Romanians šŸ™‚ I have to say I was fortunate enough to have only one Romanian boss (on my very first job in 1990). He was a total nightmare; I ended up in the hospital (no kidding!). In Romania gender doesn’t seem to matter…
